    A new view on life  echo $newRAM;

    Or, at any rate, a new portal through which I can view my life. I went to Pratt's surplus store today, something I've been meaning to do for a while. I may have mentioned on here before how horrible my monitor is. I know I've complained about it to several people. But a new monitor is *so* expensive. They start at over $100 for a tiny one. I just couldn't justify the cost.

    Much to my delight, the monitors are at the front of the store with a paper taped on the shelf saying that they are all 50% off. It took me a while to finally pick which monitor I wanted, but to make a long story short, I got a 21" flat screen IBM monitor. I'll have to check what the exact model is, but it looks like it's closest to this one. I think it might be that one (or the x-year older model), because it does have both analog and digital input, which the next model down doesn't When I plugged it in to test it, I cranked the resolution up to 1600x1200 and it looks beautiful. I think I felt a small tear well up in the corner of my eye.

    And, best of all, it looks like it has great contrast. It'll be so much nicer watching movies and (plug your ears mom) playing video games on the new beast. And, of course, plenty of image handling as I take lots and lots of pictures.
