|Tonight at institute, we heard from a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. I didn't know ahead of time that he was coming, so it was a very nice treat. I guess that he was in the area talking with a group of Mission Presidents. He invited us to ask any questions of him, and he spoke for about an hour total. I enjoyed his long answers to short questions. Someone asked how President Hinckley is doing, and he talked for 20 minutes about the mantle associated with a priesthood calling.
One question was something to the effect of how does one reconcile the belief that you will not be tempted beyond that which you can handle with the horrible lives that some people are brought up in. I'm not sure if I misunderstood the question or he did, but he spent another 20 minutes talking about addictions. And I'm glad that he did.
A quote that stood out to me enough to actually write it down (I wasn't specifically taking notes) was one key to overcome addications is to "continuously stand in the light." Of course, I've heard this same thing said a hundred different ways, but this quote just seemed to fit at the time.
Good night to the world, and may we always stand in the light.
