    Federal Marriage Amendment  echo $newRAM;

    I got an email today saying that the senate is voting on a federal marriage amendment this week. I've already written my opinion on the subject, and I think I still actually agree with it. I would like to hear some informed, intelligent reasons for and against the proposal. Such reasonings cannot rely on arguments such as "because it's evil," or "Gay's have rights, too." I want arguments based on what the constitution actually stands for in this country.

    Because I am riding this fence on this topic (I'm ultimately morally opposed to gay marriages, but don't feel that an amendment to the consitution would be proper), I will be playing a pretty hard devil's advocate for any arguments presented (if any). Please leave comments below.
