|Talking with Ashley for a little bit, we were comparing jobs and pay. Either she's spoiled rotten, or I'm getting totally ripped off. Probably a mixture of the two, and Flagstaff's job market is really lousy. With my back against the wall, I agreed to working at Pizza Hut for six dollars an hour, simply because there wasn't any better prospects. Even the $6.75-$7.00 that the Circle K will pay (assuming my background check doesn't get lost in space) isn't anywhere near the $9+ that she's making an hour. Naturally, I'd like to go to work on Monday and demand a pay raise or else I walk. However, that won't work, because they'd just say "nice to know ya" and give me my last paycheck.
I'm trying to decide if I should call Denny's again, and see what happened to that application. Probably, they decided that they don't want me there, because I don't have any experience as a server. Or they're *really* slow in deciding who they want to interview, in which case maybe I don't want to work there anyway. Probably what would be better is if I could convince Pizza Hut to move me to a server position. Then at least if you work hard and fast, you get tips for it. Plus, it's so weird knowing that there's hundreds of people coming in and out of the restaurant, but I see *none* of them. I come in the back door and head out the same. Today I had to use the restroom, so I walked through the dining area, but that's the most I've seen of the customers any time while on the clock.
It's not that I specifically dislike the job. It has its perks. Like that I can get a small or personal pizza every day that I work. I can also ask and get a regular pizza sometimes, if I'd like, but I don't wanna push that too many times. And when there's a rush, you're constantly working, which means that the time goes by quickly. Obviously, it's somewhat annoying that I've always got bacon grease on my fingers, even if I wash my hands 15 times an hour. And cheese gets into everything: the sauce, the meatmix, the green peppers. It's good thing that almost every pizza has cheese on it. And it's not as bad as all that, just a couple pieces floating around.
At any rate, I wanna change to a server as soon as possible. The extra money would be really helpful. And I miss working with customers. Then, the cheese still gets into everything, but it's a new experience with every person.
