I had told Amy last Monday that I'd stop by her work with flowers sometime. I think she assumed I was joking, but today I finally got around to it. I needed to deposit my paycheck anyway, so while I was in the bookstore, I got a thing of daisies from the flower shop downstairs in the Wilk. On the way out the bookstore doors, I purchased an Almond Joy.
It's always interesting walking across campus with flowers. They're not easy to hide from the world, and people unsuccessfully try not to stare. And then I ran into Geneil and Josh. Apparently, Geneil's down visiting for the week. And they're dating now. Anyway, I digress.
Ironically, when I showed up at Amy's work, the first person that I recognize is Laura. I'd forgotten that she worked there. We waved to each other, and Amy turned to notice me. She seemed pretty happy to see me, and then I set the flower and candy on the counter between us. "Because you're sweet, pretty, and a joy to be with... and because I'm a nut." For the heck of it (and because she's pretty, sweet, and a joy to be with), I asked if she had plans for the weekend, and if she wanted to do something. She said okay, and I made my exit. Lingering is awkward, and I had to get back to work anyway, since I was on my lunch break. I'd say that's a fairly productive lunch break, wouldn't you?
There's more to read. Read the extended entry.
