Pull out my dancing shoes
added Tue February 10 2004 at 10:04 PM
Thursday night, I've got a competition for my dance class so tonight I was practicing with my partner. This competition is actually a practice one (to give everybody a chance to compete other than at DanceSport), and we are paired up instead of choosing our own partners. I have the fortune and misfortune of having two partners (because the class has more girls than guys). The fortune is that I have twice the chance of making it to the finals. The misfortune is that it adds stress and makes it so if I do well with both girls, by the end I'll be dancing non-stop.

Somehow, Candace and I kept missing each other. She was going back and forth between two rooms because she's also in Latin dancing. Jill and I kept leaving the room because it was extremely packed and they were switching between Tango, Foxtrot, and Waltz. We are competing in Foxtrot, so it turned out to be more effective to spend a lot of time out in the hall instead of in the room. The main thing we were able to practice in the room was general floorcraft (avoiding other people).

Let me make it very clear now that regardless of how I do on Thursday, I have a couple of very good dancers for partners. It was so great this evening to actually dance with a girl that corrected my mistakes instead of me always trying to fix the girl. I think between Jill and I, we were able to get a lot of details addressed and possibly fixed. The only reason why I say possibly fixed is because I have a *lot* to think while I'm dancing.
