Photoshop, or "That's your best picture yet"- : Today I spent some time playing with photoshop. When one of my coworkers saw the cucumbers, he said "That's your best picture yet." Obviously, it's a matter of taste, because this look, while catchy and trendy, is very fake. I am having fun with photoshop, and will probably play with more pictures tomorrow, but I still am undecided how I feel about using photo editting software for more than cropping. For that matter, I don't usually even crop my photos any further. Part of that is because I have so many pictures that it would be a waste of my time to try to make every single one as presentable as possible. On the other hand, it would be good practice, and it would make me look better.

I've very mixed feelings about using photoshop, so please let me know what you think. Obviously, the cucumber picture below is much better than its original, so please don't comment on that. Instead, restrict the commentary to how you feel about using various photoshop techniques to make pictures look more eye-catching. Keep in mind that I am not trying to make graphics for anything, nor am I using these pictures in advertisements. I present my photography as a view through my eyes. I am definitely interested in continuing some work with photoshop as a new artform, but still do not feel that it would be proper to say any one of these is "better" than pictures taken without assistance of software.

I like!!!!

as an art form: you've selected the right focal points to emphisize, it's amazing!!!

as technical skill: you did a great job! you've cuaght the right lines with no obvious points of bleeding or shaking! it's awesome, especially scince I don't know of you doing alot of this kind of thing before, it took me a lot of playing to get near to this kind of precision!

as a photography technique: what you see when you look at something, while captured litterally by a camera may not acctually be what you are seeing. you see with more than your eyes transmiting exact things to your brain, you see more and sometimes less, it's emotional too, and this is a way to capture it. I often liustrate my poems with abstract art, because I can't quite catch what I'm seeing in my head in art or in poems alone all of the time, but combined it speaks more to me.

over all: keep playing, I want one of these as your art on my living room wall!!!!

I approve...I like the white rose with pink background better than the pink on greys. I do think that the black bee is evil looking!! My favorite is the little pansy (just in case you are interested). You have come farther than me in figuring out the photoshop stuff.

Keep playing with just might become addicted
